The world of fashion is one that I never wish to visit. I wish to live there instead. An outsider’s view is tainted by flashbulbs and glitter. On the inside you can see the industry without its makeup on…

An Icon for Us All

Few women are remembered throughout time as beautiful, successful, charming and icon. Grace Kelly, Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe, and, my personal favorite, Audrey Hepburn. Most people know Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, a flighty young girl living in New York City. Holly, the star of Breakfast at Tiffany's, was probably Audrey's most famous role. It is the role that I first saw Ms. Hepburn in, and the role that inspired who I am. Imagine a young girl watching as a sleek, slim woman travels through New York City and falls in love with the people, a cat named Cat, and a man that loves her too. After that, Audrey Hepburn became an idol of mine. She turned the little black dress from just another simple frock to a staple featured in the wardrobes of every woman in this country and so many others, but Ms. Hepburn was more than just Holly and she did more than just turn the Little Black Dress into an icon of its own.
Audrey Hepburn was born on May 4th, 1929. She appeared in 29 movies between 1951 and 1989, including Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), Funny Face (1957), Roman Holiday (1953), and Sabrina (1954), not to mention My Fair Lady in 1964. Ms. Hepburn starred along side of such actors as Cary Grant, Fred Astaire, Humphrey Bogart, Gregory Peck and Richard Dreyfuss.
Throughout her life, Audrey Hepburn had various relationships and marriages. She was married to Mel Ferrer from 1954 to 1968, then Andrea Dotti from 1969 to 1982. She two sons, one with each man. Before the birth of her first son she had two miscarriages, and while she was on bed rest her husband brought her the deer, from the movie Green Mansions, to keep as a pet. They names him Pippin, but nicknamed him Ip.
Audrey Hepburn was the favorite actress of American president John F. Kennedy. For his birthday in 1963 she sang him "Happy Birthday, Dear Jack", sadly that was Mr. Kennedy's last birthday.
In the years before her death, Audrey lived with Robert Wolders. They never married, however they considered themselves to be "married, just not formally." She called those years the happiest of her life.
Audrey died of cancer on January 20th, 1993. A day the acting and fashion worlds will mourn forever.

Just a quick history less,
XOXO~ Megzi
